I've had this lamp for several months now. The lamp itself is good—good light, good magnification. My issue is with the way the arm attaches to the clamp. It sticks down into the hole and you tighten a screw on the side that pushes against the arm post to make it tight. However, this does not hold very well after you adjust the position of the arm several times. I don't know if the screw loosens or eventually the post works itself free, or what. There have been a few times when I've grabbed the light to move it to to a different position (closer to me) and it has come right out of the holder. If I hadn't caught it it would have hit the floor. There has to be a better way to for the lamp to be held into the clamp. It's fairly heavy and doesn't want to stay in, plus the hole could be a little deeper.

I like the adjustments for the arm - they appear solid and not easily destroyed as you move the light around, though they're meant to be loosened before moving the arm. Good light color, easy to see and easy on the eyes. My complaint, giving a star off, is that the light is placed such that it can be seen through the magnifying glass when you're just using it for general task lighting and the magnifier enhances the glow of the light making a very bright spot that is hard on the eyes even though it is not directly in your line of vision. So very annoying and because of that I have to have the light higher than I would prefer for the work I do. Should have a cover over the magnifier to resolve this problem, but it doesn't. When you're using the magnifier the light isn't an issue because you're looking straight down. But it means I have the arm in greater motion than I would prefer, as I don't loosen the knobs before moving it - I'd be standing up frequently (to reach some of the adjustment knobs) if I did that. Yes, I know it will wear faster, but I accept the tradeoff.

I had one of these for eight years, but in black. It finally went caput. I am so happy to replace it with this new one that is even better than my old one. It is lighter, for one thing, which means less stress on the "joints" so that it remains in position. Also, the on/off switch for the light bulb is a simple toggle switch. On. Off. Just press the button. On my old one, I had to hold the button in until the starter on the flourescent light would come on. I ordered this on a Saturday afternoon and it arrived on Tuesday, well-packed in a gigantic box. I am so pleased with both my new craft lamp, the speed of delivery, and the excellent packing. If anybody beads or embroiders or performs any close-up work, this lamp with the magnifier is the one to get. Truly, I cannot live without it.

Met expectations for everything I needed it for. Only minor issue that knocked it down to 4 stars is socket for circular fluorescent tube is up against the inner ring around the lens which forces the tube off center. It is well retained and the wires aren't pinched so it is safe, just a design glitch they shouldn't have let through, unless the Chinese manufacturer substituted the bulb socket with the goal to get the product out the door rather than get it out right. I may look for a right angle connector to get a better fit.

Love the light. So far works wonderful and gives me a circumference to work with my last light could not without distorting. The light is bright enough to allow me to do my crafting for hours without eye strain. The other good thing you need to know is the light is replaceable!! Unlike most of the others in the market, which once the light burns out, you have to buy another lamp! This one only needs its light replaced. YAY. you find it on the Internet!!

I purchased this item to help me see details while welding, my mistake as it is big and bulky, it just got in the way. Took off 1 star because the construction of the arms is too lightweight for the size of the lamp/ magnifier. It constantly sags under the weight and wobbles around a lot. I use it but for the cost I'd think the apparatus would be heavier duty.

Quallity product .Glass Lens clear and no distortion. Absolutely a must for any close work. Would recommend to seniors with failing eyesight. Just be sure you have a table that will accomodate the clamp base. This is the best magnifying lamp, I have ever had. I've had these type of lights before and they work great, especially because of the magnifier for close up work. What I really like about this lamp is the on/off switch. The lamp I had previously had a button you had to hold in to turn on the light and sometimes you had to play with it to come on. With the Normande light you just flick the switch and it's on! Installing it to my work area was easy enough for me to do also...It is a good buy!
