Garden Oasis
I'm a beginner gardener, but I only have a small balcony in LA. This is an incredibly helpful book! It takes you step-by-step through every process, no matter what urban setting you have. Kevin Espiritu gives you the essential knowledge on just about everything without ever talking down to the reader. At the same time, it's also a great book for those who know what they're doing. The chapters are colour-coded and well organized and there are plenty of great pictures to help you out. Lots of good advice & ideas!

Comprehensive introduction to modern gardening
I bought this book primarily because I am a fan of the author's podcast Epic Gardening and I wanted to see what he could do in another medium. I am very impressed. This professionally designed book is a wealth of quality information and I would recommend it to every beginning gardener. I would also recommend it to intermediate-level gardeners in milder climates trying to make the most of smaller growing spaces. As a gardener with only 2 year experience, I look at it as 10% reference material and 90% inspiration that will lead to additional research.

More than just Urban
As a preface I'm 100% in the suburban camp - we've got about 1.5 acres on the outskirts of a big city roughly 25 minutes from anything considered downtown. Despite this - Kevin's book has a bunch of useful information that can be expanded beyond just urban gardening in a small space. I've got more land than I know what to do with, but this book still has great tips on using raised beds, creating good soil conditions, and handy cheat-sheets for plant spacing as well as tips for protecting seedlings which is useful no matter where you plant.I think the coolest part about having this book at hand is that I have some great information about outdoor gardening, but if I wanted to grow some more fragile plants or ones that may not necessarily enjoy my climate he's got a whole section on step-by-step DIY hydroponic and indoor planting as well. Who knows - might take advantage of my state's new laws with that one we'll see ;).Great book, a good resource, and cheap to boot! That and Kevin's very active on his youtube with consistent updates, tips, and advice. The book's an amazing resource, but Kevin is, too! Follow this guy and you won't regret it.

A "Must Read" for any beginner wanting to grow plants & vegetables.
There are a lot of people out there who would love to know how to grow beautiful houseplants or harvest their own vegetables every year. However, so many are terrified of trying and believe they have a "brown thumb". This book is definitely for those who want to give it a try. Kevin has an amazing way of explaining all of the details yet in an ordinary and very understandable way. He explains all the "hows" and "whys" but in a nonboring way. So many gardening books are written by someone with a PHD in Horticulture and the authors sometime speak to you as if you do as well. I've never sat and read a gardening book from cover to cover but this one is different. He takes you on a journey and it's fun!

Not for City Apartment dwellers, and very much a beginner's guide
Very disappointed in this book and should have been more careful with table of contents before ordering. It's very much a beginner book, and not 100% focused on what I think of as urban gardening (NO yard). There's a 40 page section on hyrdroponics in case you want to grow things in plastic totes with water and rocks, but the balcony section is a mere 7 pages. There are some hacks like making your own modular trellis using concrete rebar and conduit pipes. Most true urban dwellers don't have a bunch of tools in our apartments, nor know how to use them, much less where to buy rebar! We can't carry around masonry blocks and walk them up our fourth floor walkups. We don't have circular saws to build our own raised bed, and we can't carry 25 pound bags of soil up stairs. I gained almost nothing from this book and would return it if I could. I feel this book is more for suburban folks, and people just thinking about getting started at that. I know I can grow strawberries in baskets, and I know I need to protect my plants from wind on my balcony, but I want specifics. This is very general, and a misleading title.

My Favorite Gardening Book!
I follow Kevin's Youtube and Podcast. He is very smart and passionate about gardening. I read the book cover to cover and keep it with my reference books. The photos are beautiful and the writing is excellent. It is also a great gift for people who are interested in gardening but don't know where to start. This book and the Epic Gardening videos are great encouragers for us beginners. Kevin Espiritu's teaching is straight-forward with tried and true advice and solutions. You will love this book!

Great book! I highly recommend!!
I'm one of those people that have decided to dip their big toe into gardening with all this quarantine stuff. Kevin Espiritu came up in my searches and I've been listening to his podcasts and watching his videos to help direct me. Even though I live in a suburb house with a backyard, I am interested in starting in raised beds or containers. Kevin's book has helped me wonderfully in this area. I started with herbs and I've already moved on to vegetables that just started sprouting a couple of days ago. I feel so accomplished! Thanks, Kevin, for your insight, honesty and encouragement. Your enthusiasm is infectious! I can really tell this is your passion and you love it. But you help those of us that are just getting started to not feel too overwhelmed. Your book is beautiful and packed with the knowledge I need! Keep up the amazing work!!

Well-written book for the beginner urban gardener
Very well-written book for the beginner urban gardener. Easy to understand with loads of diagrams and accompanying explanations, and just exploding with ideas to try. It has a broad approach to urban gardening as a topic, and yet provides enough relevant information to get stuck in. All in all, a wonderful book that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. The paper and printing is also top quality. In addition, because I pre-ordered this book from Singapore, I got a free e-book from Kevin himself.

Great advice and nicely designed book
I follow the authors YouTube channel, so figured the book would be full of great info too. I was right. The book strikes a perfect balance between being scientific and detailed, whilst also being fun and creative. It’s a great book for a quick ten minute read on a specific subject or for a quick fix of inspiration. But equally great to read in depth for more detailed information. Finally, the book is very well put together - great photography and nicely payed out design. Highly recommend.

This book is awesome.
Full of interesting, good ideas, weed control, pest control, what to grow and when, harvesting tips, aqauponics ideas. Nice clear photos, has a nice feel to it.Well worth the money and if like me you have a small garden mainly put over to slabs, this book will certainly help to get the homegrown foods onto my plate.

Brilliant book for space challenged gardeners
I recently found the author on YouTube. Love his videos, but as a book tutorial junkie couldn't resist finding out about the book after seeing how many people bought it after watching. Delivery was 1 to 2 months so chose this seller. It's easy to understand, he's very relatable sharing his gardening journey, and big on low budget materials and recycling, which is a refreshing change. There is a slight distancing with the translation from US to UK, but there are lots of conversion charts, and if you aren't old like me and work in inches and cm, easily converted on Google. Wonderful book! Seller was quick and would definitely use them again. Delighted all round.

Great complete book that will show you many different approaches to gardening
This book will appeal to many people, no matter if you have a large garden, balcony or just your window still to put your plants up. It will make you think about all the possibilities, some that you might have thought of before, and some new ones too. Well written and nice full colour pictures made it so that I read it almost in one go. If you're (just like me) looking for the metric conversions, there is a handy note in the back of the book.

Nice book but...
It's not what I was expecting. There's not much advice on plants, etc. Nice pictures but I was hoping for something that would give more plant advice
