Loud ringer!
Worked nicely when testing. I appreciate that the time has a fully enclosed back. Ring is fairly loud, also.

Back to basics with style
Mine just arrived so this is a first-impressions report. The ring duration is longer on mine than the one in the video; maybe two full seconds The plastic housing feels solid. The base is molded in. I like the way the pointer overlaps the numbers and has a white marker. I can read it from across the room. I am not swearing off using the timer on my phone and the timer on the oven itself but I plan to usually just grab this simple timer. I agree with other reviewers that you have to follow the designer’s intent and wind it up with close to a full rotation before you set it.

Does what it's s'posed to do - countdown time and ring when time's up
Very basic spring timer at a fair price. One sweeping motion sets the spring so the bell rings at the end of the countdown, and unless you're preforming precision scientific work requiring pinpoint nanosecond timing, it is accurate within five seconds depending on how tightly you align the hash mark on the winder with the hashmark on the clockface.Reading through negative reviews gives me the impression folks are too accustomed to digital timers and expect similar precision and volume. This is just a mechanical timer that counts down long minutes with enough slack in time to ensure the egg is boiled and the French press is done. And it does it exceptionally well with a simple twist, set, and go. And the ring is loud and long enough to let you know time has run out. Well, long enough if you twist the setting dial all the way around as instructed on the face of the timer.

Feels cheap; not loud enough, alarm not long enough
I don't feel it's worth the $9.00 I paid for it (it feels cheap.) The alarm is very short and not loud enough. I would return it but not sure how to do this because of the packaging. DisappointedNoise level:Weak alarm; too short

It works and is accurate timewise.
It works well enough, almost no "Ding" first time I used it, thereafter it was loud enough hear from the next room, if there's not too much ambient noise. Three stars because it could be a lot louder.

No batteries needed--no need to replace every so often
this mechanical ring timer is simple and a good size---it does not need any batteries as you would simply manually wind it to your desired time. It is made of a sturdy plastic and you can just place it on your kitchen counter or anywhere you plan on using it. The numbers are large enough that you can easily see when winding. Make sure you wind it PAST 55 and then back to the desired minutes (5,10,15,etc) this seems to reset it to wind and ring when the time is up. The ringer is loud enough to hear if you are not in the same room----it also has a ticking noise as it counts down. It is not digital so it doesn't light up---you will need to use it in a lit room. Timer goes up to 60 minutes max.

Finally, a simple kitchen timer that you can set ... even without your reading glasses :))
A family member needed an easy to operate old school mechanical timer to use in the kitchen without her reading glasses!SEE MY PHOTOS IN CUSTOMER IMAGESDigital timers - standalone timers, or even those on the stovetop or microwave are a bit cumbersome to set in a jiffy. Especially, when all you need is to set an approximate countdown between 1 and 60 minutes.PROS:The black numerals on the white dial are large and easy to see. No need to reach for your reading glasses to set this easy-to-read timer :))The alarm bell is loud and all of 5 seconds long! You don't have to be in the same room to hear this timer! (It sounds like the 'Old Phone' Ringtone on my iPad's Facetime App!)The timer is easy to operate - just crank up the black mechanical pointer all the way to 60 and then turn back to the number of minutes you want to countdown! This timer is freestanding and portable with a sturdy base. So, even though its lightweight, it never topples over. We keep ours on the kitchen counter! This is an affordably priced, easy to read mechanical timer ... 5 STARS!Hope my review and photos were helpful ...Jeffrey A. (Jeff)
