A little small in size, but it works

Does not melt at 450 degrees or anywhere near it. Tried to use this product to fill a hole in cast aluminium, the wire was rubbed with the supplied sandpaper and the work was conducted exactly as specified. I tried a butane torch initially but could not get the work hot enough for the welding wire to melt. I then used a Map gas torch and tried again, the piece got hotter and hotter, yet still the wire wouldn't run. I then put the wire into the hole I wanted to fill and the wire cut through the by now melting cast, like a knife through butter. Now I have a bigger hole to fill! I tried this on cleaned steel and even when the steel was glowing red the wire would not run.

Unless you have access to a VERY hot flame then think hard before buying. As a test I tried normal gear to see how they worked but I haven't got it to work with any household blowtorches of any size.. Luckily I have a great quality torch and these work exactly as advertised.

Do the job but they didn't need the massive box it came in

The product arrives like a coiled wire not like a sturdy rod. The melting point seems very high and does adhere to aluminium. I have tried several times but even as the metal gets nearly white hot and then the wire forms a molten blob and doesn’t weld the pieces together. I give up.

I had a similar experience to one of the other reviewers here, these rods were absolutely hopeless. I'm a pretty competant welder and have done plenty of brazing and soldering work in the past, so I thought these would be a good solution to perform a minor repair to an aluminium part. I wish I'd never bothered. No matter what I did, the rods simply wouldn't melt. Following the instructions step-by-step, they just wouldn't weld anything.After giving up on using these for the actual repair work, I tried a bit of testing on different types and grades of aluminium and completely failed to weld anything. If you can get these to work, then good luck to you - I will not be using them again!

Brilliant stuff, melts with a propane torch, binds to aluminium and mild steel, made all kind of Ali brackets and patched my rusty motorbike down pipes.
