Usual Seagate Reliability
The larger a hard drive is, the more risk you carry in case of failure, but I’ve been buying Seagate Hard Drives for years and have always had good experiences with them. This one is no exception and is my third drive of this type and capacity (I also have other Seagate Desktop drives which are larger, and used for land mark backups). This drive is used for continuous backup of an important PC and performs daily without issues. The price, per GB, is also reasonable. You get a selection of power connectors for the power adapter, so if you travel abroad and need to take this with you, you’ll always be able to connect it. The USB cable is also a decent length.Usual Seagate reliability and a nice-looking unit as well. Highly recommended.

Setting up properly!!!
The media could not be loaded. I bought the 24 TB versionI'm already running it over a day now no heating issues no noisePlease see my video & screenshot it's very important to do the steps as you connect it for the first timeHere's my setup:It's connected to my PC via USB v3.2 portDo this step otherwise you'll struggle to copy large amounts of data (it will wait & buffer so it will be slow)1 Right click on your HDD->Properties->Hardware2 Select your drive (if you have more external HDDs you should do the same for all of them the speed performance will be night & day)3 Click Properties->PoliciesTick Better Performance, write-caching, turn off flushing4 Press OK & restartYou can see my recording I'm copying 10GB of youtube videos to the 24TB Seagate and it takes less than a minuteWhich is impressive in my opinion for a high capacity HDD like this oneAlright as everybody aware the partition size in kbytes is 24TB but in your system it will have a free space of 21.7TB when it's emptyI suggest to keep the partition on exFAT this is the best performance & size & compatibility even a Mac can see this partition so you can transfer files between PC & Mac

Works well
It's a good drive, it has nice slim design and it's soft to the touch. I'm getting about 100Mbps write speeds. The LED light on this drive is very subtle so it's not disturbing at all.It certainly appears durable enough to move it around in a backpack but I'd be worried about dropping it etc. It's not rugged so got to be careful.Initially this drive was disconnecting for me whilst copying files to it. I had to format it 3 times before this issue stopped making the initial set up far more crumber some than it should have been. Also, this drive will disconnect from your pc if you move it around too much but this is an issue with every drive of this type.Power consumption is low of this kind of drives so wouldn't worry about it.I'll probably buy more of these drives.

Great Hard Drive
Needed a 4TB external drive to connect to my LG TV as have had difficulties trying to use large Storage USB Memory Sticks in the past due to formatting issues, but thankfully this little drive has stepped up to the mark. The quality and transfer speed, and most importantly no formatting problems make this a must for me.Will definitely be looking to buy another one of these in the near future.

Perfect for Apple Time Machine back-ups, and much quieter than my previous Seagate drive.
I was hesitating whether or not to buy another Seagate hard drive. My old one had been really noisy for quite a long time now, but the price for 8TB was irresistible compared to other alternatives. Also, my previous Seagate hard drive lasted for 7 years of hourly incremental Apple Time Machine back-ups. I bought this for the same purpose, and I'm really impressed so far. It only took a few minutes to reformat the drive using the Apple disk utility. You need to do this if you want to use the disk for Time Machine back-ups. My first full back-up took 2 to 3 hours. After that, hourly incremental back-ups are now only taking a few minutes. Before they used to take over an hour, so the next one was started before the previous one had finished. This disk is less than half the noise volume of my previous one, in terms of noisy disk spinning and chuntering. I now barely notice a back-up is being performed. This is a really nice sleek looking compact unit too. You don't have to place it vertically. If you want a well priced back-up disk for Time Machine, this one is perfect.

Recommended.
In daily use as a Time Machine for my MacBook and attached external hard drives. Very very quiet. To use as a Time Machine, you do have to let the Time Machine software wipe your drive, so it's not longer able to be used as a hub. But I bought it to back up all my stuff, so I don't have an issue. I did however partition into a 6TB (for Time Machine) and 2 TB for other back up stuff.

Seagate gives you what you expect and paid for
Before buying the Seagate 1TB Portable Drive, with which I'm absolutely delighted, I tried several 982GB Memory Sticks. True, the Seagate Drive is more expensive, but to my cost I found nothing matches it for quality and reliability. The so-called speedy and or quick transfer memory sticks were, frankly, useless. True, I bought cheap versions from china. The first failed to function. The 2nd took 28 hrs to accept 84GB of files, but then wouldn't load or allow it to be opened, so all the files were lost. The Seagate was incredibly quick loading 300 GB in about 15 hrs and is always accessible. Seagate is my trusted and only source of external data storage medium from now on. Thank you Seagate!

No issues yet
Works great (Windows user). Pre-formatted with instructions and a warranty pdf, even has a photo of the drive as its icon! No issues so far, it's already been used for recovery once, so glad I got this.Remember: two is one, one is none.
