Sound quality was much better than my last CD transport purchased on Amazon
My last CD transport that I purchased from Amazon, broke down within a year and was out of Warrantee. I wrote a bad review for that unit, and purchased the Cambridge CXC transport. Wow, what an improvement, especially in sound quality using the same system including DAC. I am kind-of glad my other unit broke down because the Cambridge is a much better unit (design and build) with a big improvement in sound. I am an audiophile and EE, and I assumed all transports would sound the same, as the data is in the digital format. I was wrong about that. Highly recommended.

Great Sound
I am using this transport on my "second" stereo set-up and I'm very pleased with it. It has great dynamics and the sound is open and defined, it creates a nice soundstage. Keep in mind that this is a transport, you will have to connect it to a separate DAC. To that end, your sound experience will vary with the DAC you use. The unit is well built and it has a clean modern look.

Discs this terrific unit can play
It's a terrific unit! In case you are wondering about what this unit can play, and you haven't given the manual a proper viewing:"This unit has been designed to play compact discs, recordable CDs (CD-R) and re-writable CDs (CD-RW) bearing the identification logo shown here. No other discs can be used. Any CD-R/CD-RW discs should contain properly recorded TOC (Table of Contents) information so that they can be played back. This unitcan play only the discs recorded in the CD-DA format designed for music reproduction. Do not attempt to play a disc containing other data, such as a CD-ROM for PCs with MP3 or WMA files, on this unit."Hopefully this will help.

OMG!
Incredible sound. I am hearing details of my favorite tracks that I never heard before. It’s like a brand new experience of the tracks I have listened to before for thousand times. I must mention that Mojo 2 is the DAC I use with this transport, but Mojo 2 never sounded so good with any other source ( CD player, Tidal etc.). Buy this transport if you like CDs and have good DAC. You will enjoy it!

Compatibility with other Cambridge Audio Devices
I decided on the Cambridge Audio cxc cd transport because I purchased a Cxa81 a few weeks and it is superb. That gave me confidence in the cx line in general And the cxc cd and cxa81 share the same remote.I probably could get the same sound out of a less expensive transport. But I'm confident that no other transport could have much impact on the sound quality irrespective of the cost. And it's more than convenient to have remote that controls the two devices. And three if you get the Cambridge CXN V2 streamer.

Your CD's Must Be Perfect
This is a great sounding CD Transport. Solid build. Looks great. I purchased the CXC as a replacement to my 30 year old Sony C601ES 5 disc changer. The DAC went out on the unit years ago. I was just using it as a transport and using my Pioneer VSX-1017TXV receiver as the DAC.I plan on replacing my receiver with a true integrated stereo amp. The Cambridge CXC will work with any DAC and nearly every integrated amp on the market has a DAC built in. Since the DAC failed on my old CD player, I went with a dedicated transport.Pros: Compared to my 30 year old CD player, the CXC has a bigger soundstage. The music is more relaxed with a higher dynamic range. I was impressed with the sound quality. It is not fatiguing like my old CD player.Cons: The CXC will not play scratched CD's. They have to be perfect. Nearly all of my CDs are in good shape but because of this I cannot give the unit 5 stars. There are more forgiving CD players on the market for the same price. However, they may not sound as good.

Brings the CD collection back to life
I’ve not been fully satisfied with the sound quality of my cloud music, nor HD streaming. I can be bandwidth challenged at times. Playing CDs in the Sony Blu-ray didn't seem much better. Bought a turntable and a few new albums and found the sound quality i was looking for. Then listened to all of the praises for CD transports, did some research and made this purchase. Wow, a month later and i still end up dancing when playing a CD in this transport. Still surprised how good it sounds.
