Was it worth it? For what I needed, yes it is.
I purchased a mechanical water sensor to replace a defective unit on my antique John Deere 420c. It works like /as it should. I would have liked some way to alter the background image so I could make it represent more of my application using a simple computer printer. Yet otherwise it is nice knowing when the tractor is working hard that it wont be burning off the coolant. Plenty of adapters to chose from in case of some other style fit. It was not needed as I had my old parts and it dropped in the hole just like it was made for my application.

The Quality is There!
I installed this temperature gauge with ease,. (even for this novice)I purchased it because I was needing a mechanical gauge with a relatively short sensor. The fact that it came with three NPT adapters, made it all the better. The spring guard encasing the sensor wire is more than adequate. The fact that the numbers on the face were BIG and performs from 100 degrees to 250 degrees is perfect.Don't let the price fool you. This is a great temperature gauge.

Off 5-7 degrees and slow to respond
The first thing I did when I received this was put in a pot of water on the stove along with a digital cooking thermometer. The Sunpro lagged the cooking thermometer by a bit (the cooking thermometer got to 145 before the Sunpro needle moved off 100), which was to be expected, but while the cooking thermometer topped out a 211 degrees with the water boiling, the Sunpro topped out a 206. I even moved the sensors to different places in the pot to make sure this wasn't causing the discrepancy. It was not. As the water cooled the offset remained pretty constant. So at least the one I received is not terribly accurate.Another thing to keep in mind is since this is a mechanical gauge with an attached sensor and nut, you will need a large hole in the firewall to feed it through. Around 5/8". I'm not marking it down for this, but it is definitely a consideration.Update: After further consideration I returned this gauge. I was concerned about the accuracy and slow response time.

Buyer beware!! Do a boiling water test on ...
Buyer beware ! ! Do a boiling water test on any temp gauge you get ! This one only registered 135 degrees in a pot of boiling water and I let it stay in there for 3-5 min. You will fry a motor if you are trusting this gauge to tell you when it's hot. Test your gauge before you install it ! ! !Check the pic I attached and see for yourself.David P

Great customer support
The minute I recieved it I put out a pt of boiling water and tested the accuracy and it was dead on. Then after 2 weeks of running on the car I broke my timing belt and it slung around and broke the capillary tube on the sensor. No way of fixing it or getting a replacement, I called Sunpro and they did not hesitate to just send me a replacement. I've never had such great service from anyone.

Very nice gauge
I replaced my old Sunpro with this new Sunpro because I like the clear simple dial and the price. Some gauges have celsius too but I don't need to know celsius especially for my '68 Buick. It's easy to put in but you will need some kind of sealer for the manifold end of it like it says. Plumbers compound worked for me. Other than that, this gauge does the job
