Good Stand-Alone Water Bottle for a Syrian Hamster
If you need a stand-alone water bottle for an glass aquarium cage for a hamster, this is a good one. My hamster is a chewy little beast who chews on pretty much anything he can get his little chompers on, but he has not conquered this water bottle. It's very sturdy plastic with an adjustable wing-nut in the back of the unit that holds the water bottle shelf in place. The water bottle is relatively small, 80 ml or about 2.7 fluid ounces. It's also very stable and safe, easy to clean. My little monster uses it as a ladder to reach the top of his cage, and as far as I can tell, there are no safety hazards with respect to wires or ways to hurt himself. Just the right size for a Syrian hamster. The great thing about this water bottle is that it doesn't take up a lot of room, and it is height adjustable.Keep in mind that the spout should be checked every day to make sure that water is flowing. I tap the end a few times until I see air bubbles releasing in the bottle. The flow can be adjusted by loosening or tightening the metal end of the spout. I keep it fully tightened, and I have not noticed any problems when my full-grown Syrian drinks from it. If you unscrew the end of the spout and look inside, you will see a small plastic tube that runs from the twist-on cap to the metal spout. The stopper ball sits freely in the metal end and blocks the flow of water when it's not being used. I did notice that the ball retracts a little bit when my hammy is drinking, so smaller rodents (dwarf hams & mice) may have trouble unblocking the stopper ball. I have not had any leakage issues.

Perfect size
Easy to set up for hamster big or small. Would recommend it if you don’t want to constantly clean out their water bowls :)

Looks Great, Works Well—But Give It a Little Tap-Tap Sometimes
This water bottle stand looks super clean in our hamster’s setup, and it definitely adds a touch of style compared to the ones that hang awkwardly off a wire cage. The adjustable height is a nice bonus, especially since we have a mix of older and younger pets using it. That said, the little metal ball in the nozzle occasionally gets stuck, so we’ve had to give it a gentle tap to get the water flowing again—nothing major, but something to keep in mind. Our hamster doesn’t seem to mind, though; he just stares at us like we’re the problem. Overall, a solid 4 out of 5 stars for function and design—just keep your tapping finger ready.

Great Product So Far
Great little water bottle for those moving away from wire style cages...perfect for those little fuzzy hammys...Anything bigger like bunnies or piggies I would look for something bigger

Dead Gerbils. Doesn't live up to NiteAngel's "preferred" status.
Okay so I will also say, I don't ever leave reviews, especially bad ones... but the other negative reviews here are (in my experience) truthful, and I wish I read them prior to trusting this water bottle. As a preface, I have many NiteAngel products in my gerbils enclosure, and love them all, except this one.I recently redesigned my 2 gerbil boys enclosure, and with my new setup, my previous glass water bottle that hung off the top of the enclosure didn't work anymore. Being a big fan of NiteAngel's other products, I didn't hesitate to order this water bottle that came on a stand. So the stand is great. No complaints there, but the water bottle itself is crap. Upon unboxing, I noticed the cheap plastic bottle (guess I didn't read that it wasn't glass). However they didn't chew on it so I didn't care so much that it was plastic.I immediately noticed, however, that the ball in the water dispenser seemed cheap and not as heavy as others I've used in the past. After filling with water and setting up, I tested it and I did get water on my finger, though not as much as the glass bottle.I still decided to use this water bottle, and since I was worried about it's effectivity... I checked that it was working every day. I got water on my fingers every morning, but still, not as much as with my previous water bottle.Fast forward 1 week later. I come home from work and check on my 2 gerbils as usual, and found them both dead.No signs of illness or infections, and the only change I made was this cheap excuse for a safe water bottle.Yes, there are plenty of great reviews for this water bottle... I mean, the stand IS nice. But do yourself (and your small animals) a favor, and listen to those of us that have deceased pets after trusting this product.Even with checking the product daily, it still wasn't sufficient enough to keep my gerbils from getting dehydrated.

Chewed through it
Within two months our Syrian hamster chewed through the plastic water cap right above the metal end piece. Now I wonder if she did this because she wasn’t getting enough water from it since there’s other plastic items in her cage that she has never chewed. We ended up buying her a small ceramic bowl that releases more water as she drinks, from Dahey https://a.co/d/boORTwc. Half the price.
