Great Christmas gifts!
Have you ever sounded like an idiot trying to describe mechanical issues with your car? Ever wondered if you were being taken advantage of at the repair shop?I can't recommend this handheld scanner enough for anyone to have on hand as a good basic diagnostic scan tool. It's a simple plug-in under the dash or steering column (and if you can't find where, a quick Google or YouTube video will show you), and the up/down/enter buttons are simple to follow to get to the engine error code display (again, searching the code number on Google & YouTube will provide all kinds of info!).I bought it to get more info on a "check engine" light in my 2013 Infiniti before I contacted a mechanic after the weekend, by which time I could tell them that the error code showed (only) 2 of my cylinders weren't firing and needed new spark plugs. I used it again this month when my car went into "limp mode" & wouldn't run. After towing it home (thankfully free with my insurance), the error was "low coolant" from apparently a leaking radiator cap (an $11 fix). I don't even want to know the hassle and cost of leaving it in the hands of a mechanic shop instead! The scanner now stays in the car for on-the-road info and peace of mind in case of travel issues, and my friends and children are getting scanners for Christmas this year!

Everyone needs one
My kid did not turn off my car fully before getting gas. This caused an error and the check engine light coming on the next day. Apparently if the car is on when you open the gas cap that stops your all wheel drive from working and throws an engine issue on Toyotas. Who knew? I bought this in a panic because the dealership said they would charge me 200+ to diagnose. This handy tool gave me the code told me what it might be. I was able to clear the code and my car was good as new. Saved me 200+. Would buy again.

Gets my car going daily
I use this every single day before I start my car because the only way my car runs is when I take off the check engine light and this has been a life saver to get me to point A to Point B without my car stalling. It’s very easy to use and the diagnostic test is very accurate. Why pay someone to scan your car when you can simply do it yourself.

Quality tool, bad manual
Quality through and through. Works like a champ. Read my code and pointed to the oil sending unit. Replaced the oil sending switch and fixed the problem. I'd like to address the fact that though it does clear the check engine light (you do it manually) rerunning the code check it still shows the same code. This is contrary to the instructions witch state after clearing the code recheck to confirm it is gone. This in wrong, misleading, and confusing to new buyers. Clearing the code does not do what you would think and what other inferior code readers do. The code remains until the problem is fixed and the car is run enough to complete its next computer wellness check. Then the code is gone. This is not stated in the instructions, but make sense to me as a problem with the car is not fixed by clearing the check engine light. This is a well make product and I would recommend to others. I am taking one star back because of the confusion with the manual. It needs clarification.

Great code reader
I have an older version that just gives you the codes. This version will actually tell you what the basic issue is. It saved me about $600.00 on a repair. The idiot light indicated that there was something wrong with my water pump. It ended up that I just needed to top off my coolant fluid, which my oil change company should had done.

Does exactly what it says—easy and reliable
This scanner gets the job done. I used it on my vehicle and had no issues whatsoever. Simply plug it into the OBD port under the steering column, turn the car on, and it starts reading codes right away. It’s straightforward to use and does exactly what it advertises: reads diagnostic trouble codes and can temporarily clear them. Of course, if the same code keeps showing up, it's best to take your car to a mechanic to get to the root of the issue—but for a quick scan and reset, this tool works perfectly.Highly recommend it if you're looking for an affordable, no-frills code reader that just works. Reliable, simple, and great value.
