(My sharps container arrived unlocked)We needed a large opening sharps container to insert Emgality Injectors. The syringes are quite large and bulky. Not your typical thin syringes. This is perfect for that. The opening is definitely wide enough to hold the ginormous syringe. I keep it under the laundry room sink only because if it dumps over, the syringes will surely dump out. As mentioned in a previous review, if you have small children around, you'll need to keep it out of reach as they can put their hands right in the opening.I feel the sharps container is your typical plastic container. It doesn't feel any thinner than any other sharps container that you find in a doctors office.It's large enough to last a couple years or longer since the syringes are only used once a month.I will definitely buy this one from now on.

It's a typical sharps container. I saw a lot of people had trouble with theirs arriving already closed, mine arrived open, no problem. Many people commented on how thin the plastic is. I'm a Nurse Practitioner, I've been working in healthcare 30 years, it's a very typical sharps container. The opening is large so if you have small children that would be a concern, just beware. It's great for some of the larger medication pens though. Specifically, I'm using it for Humira and the pen fits easily in the opening, but you can also easily reach in and get it back out. I'm not saying this is a flaw, I'm saying know your environment and purchase accordingly. I would absolutely purchase this product again.

I have type 2 diabetes (without insulin) and give myself an injection with a pen injector weekly, plus I need something to dispose of the lancets from checking my blood sugar. I had bought a smaller sharps container but my doctor switched me to Trulicity, which has a wide needle end that fills up a sharps "cup" way too quickly. Not only is this container much bigger (and will need replacement a lot less often), the opening is big enough to not only take my Trulicity pens easily but I can also alternate which direction they face so I can distribute the wider end across the container. I can close the cover enough to not lock it, which is needed since the best space to store it is on the floor by my "desk," which is where I give myself my inhjections.

It seems I'm not the only one that received this tamper proof container already closed and locked, ...which leads me to believe that an uninformed employee, who is packing these products, is 'accidentally' or 'purposely' locking them prior to shipping. So, in order for me to use this container, I have to 'break' it open. In doing so, it defeats the purpose of purchasing this tamper proof container for properly disposing of used needles and other sharps. I should return it for a replacement; but I won't bother with the inconvenience, nor will I buy another. I have my 'responsible' looking container, albeit broken, and will use an old coffee can when it comes time for disposal.

If I could give it a zero I would. I can't imagine that this is an acceptable sharps container. It is thin, cheap plastic. It doesn't close tightly. It can't possibly be safe. I'm going to use it because I can't leave the house during the pandemic. But as soon as I can get to a medical supply store and buy a "real" one, I will replace it. I do not recommend it. I've shopped on Amazon for a very long time and I believe this is the worst product I've purchased. I usually give compliments.
