Q: My dryer has the lint filter in the top of dryer, not in front. Does it work for that type dryer as well?

Yes mine is the same way it does work good yes. Sad part is I feel like there’s some left in there. If I had two in them it would reach all the way to the bottom.

Q: how wide is the opening on the tubes? I assume they are oval shaped, is that correct?

The opening for the end that will be used to suck up the lint is 1/2 inch. That end and the tube are oval/flat. The round end in the part that will fit on your vacuum is 2 inches. The vacuum end is stretchy rubber so that it fits a smaller or larger vacuum end and creates a good seal. It works very well for the purpose. Mine puts off a high pitched noise when using. Not sure if that is because of my vacuum connection with this device or this device always sounds like that when being used but it gets the job done!

Q: How far will the hose advance and is it difficult to advance?

Depends on the type of dryer you have. But it in most cases reach as far as the first bend in the dryers exhaust. Sometimes you have to try different combinations of the hose attachments to reach further down in the dryer exhaust. Hope this helped. Be safe.

Yes ... I believe it will fit to the hose off of a shop vac
