Everything you need and then some!
I had been Lino printing for sometime before buying this, but I am so glad I bought it! If you have no idea about relief/lino cutting and how to create gorgeous prints, this is a clear, thoughtful and well presented layout that will guide an absolute beginner. You will understand what to do and what to buy (or not) and the author is sensitive to differing budgets, always a plus in my eyes! It has provided me with somewhere to check (like how to register my paper for prints, as I often forget the sequence) and gives me ideas from the various interviews with other print makers that pepper the book. I would recommend this for those students of school age and above, it is very user friendly. It is very visualise, step by step in pictures guide, and I really think this refreshing as everything that can be done is approached this way. I admire the openness of the author to encourage us readers to develop our own style. A great and truly useful book.

Love it!
A chatty, informative and engaging book which takes you from basic mark making on lino to practice using your tools,, through the carving process to the many ways that you can make prints - all without the need for a printing press. The book is set out as individual projects with each project introducing new techniques and it has proper step-by-step photo instructions and explanations.. Sam even tells you what to do should you go wrong! Sam is an excellent guide and a great motivator. There were several a-ha! moments when reading the later projects as I realised how prints I’d seen at a recent exhibition had been created by the artists. This is definitely the best book that I’ve read on lino cutting.I purchased the Kindle version (as well as a copy of the book direct from Sam) but it wouldn’t download to the app on my Windows 10 laptop and I received an error message. I had to download the app again from Amazon before the book would download to my laptop.

A clear, concise and brilliant book on how to linocut.
This is no doubt a beautifully presented book, but most importantly the book is so informative with Sam Marshall giving thorough and clear step by step pictures / instructions for each section.I especially like that the book offers alternative ways to do the same thing - like for example, transferring your image on to the lino (the book shows you 4 ways you can do this)This book is not daunting for beginners who are just starting and need to grasp the basics of printing, and the book is also for those who already print and want to brush up on their printing skills or get new ideas.I am a confident relief printer and teach students lino printing. I bought this book to add to my collection and this is one of the best books I've bought or seen on teaching lino printing. I will definitely recommend the book to all my future students.

A superb book on linocut printmaking
This really is a fantastic book. It will teach you everything you need to know about Linocut if you are a beginner, and also serves as a great resource for more experienced printmakers. It is beautifully designed with clear and concise instructions and tips. The photos are spot on and show you the process every step of the way. It also has great projects that you can try out- it will inspire you to want to do them all! The author and creator (Sam Marshall) is encouraging and inspirational and her friendly and supportive voice comes through in every page. I think the text and font chosen is very clear and easy to read-far less crammed and condensed than in other art technique books I own. I find it very easy to read, and I don’t have brilliant eyesight.I own a few ‘how to’ linocut books now, and this is definitely a firm favourite. Highly recommended.

Excellent book
Excellent book.I have two lino cutting books, both good but this is my favourite. It's perfect for any level from beginner to more confident printers, and is packed full of information. There are loads of illustrations, and you don't need a press to be able to follow the instructions and ideas, a spoon or a cheap baren will work well.Happy to recommend.

Beautiful photos, easy to read, excellent book
After attending a lino prints workshop recently I'd been looking for a book to teach me more. This is that book. I've only had a quick flick through but I can't wait to read more. The book starts with information about the author, the history of lino cutting, tools and materials needed, and goes on to explain different techniques for different designs. There are also interviews from other printmakers. The book is larger than most , which is great as it makes the photos easier to understand.
