Stratux Case with Fan, White ABS

I bought this as part of a bunch of parts to make a Stratux ADS-B receiver, as recommended by stratux.me. Nice high quality parts, all went together very well, quick & easy assemble. Finished product works well. Took less than an hour to put it all together. Sure beats paying $700 for Stratus, or even some $270 for a pre-assembled Stratux. Kit even came with the simple tools needed to put the whole package together. Everything was a perfect fit with this case.

Excellent fit and finish. Looks like a commercial product now. Easy assembly, tight seams. Stratux logo on the top looks great. Includes screws, wrenches, and cooling fins for the processors. The AHRS/fan control fits well inside. Only drawback is that there is no mounting point on the bottom of the case, though that's not much of one since this is about the same size as an iPhone, I am using a phone mount that it clamps right into. Works great.

All fits in nicely

My first custom case for the Stratux. Seems very well designed and makes the portable Stratux a clean, professional item. The included tools are a nice touch which makes it much easier to assemble. Note that there is no access to the USB ports once assembled. If you are using the remote GPS then there is a way to plug it in and lead the cable through a small hole in the case which makes it permanently attached. If, like me, you like to remove all components and also be able to remote mount them (primarily due to the power or battery requirement), I recommend getting a short USB extension like I am using (C2G/Cables to Go 52119 6 inch USB 2.0 A Male to A Female Extension Cable . I also use 6' SMA extension cables (WILSON ELECTRONICS 951130 SMA Female to SMA Male RG174 Extension Coaxial Cable 6ft and suction cups (Adams Manufacturing 6500-74-3040 1-3/4-Inch Suction Cup Hook, Medium, 3-Pack ) to remote mount the antennas. Of course, with the AHRS you will want to securely and consistently mount the Stratux in your cockpit. The new suction cup mount coming from the "Stratux Store" should work when available, or I will end up using industrial velcro... I am hoping that a future case will include the ability to incorporate a battery, PingEFB and possibly an on / off switch to make a real complete product!!

This is probably the best case for the Stratux - it's pretty small (smaller than others I've seen, at least) and everything fits as it should. It also comes with all the tools you need to put it together, which is a nice touch. It's a little tricky getting the antenna wires routed correctly but it's not too bad. When built, the case feels pretty solid.The one real criticism I have is that it's basically impossible to get the antenna mounts tight enough so that they don't move when you try to unscrew the antennas. I'm obviously using the lock washers and I've tightened the nuts down to the point that they've even dug up some of the case material - I can't physically tighten them anymore or I'll just dig out more material or potentially break the case. Still, the nuts turn when I try to unscrew the antennas. It's not a huge deal, it's just annoying. Most of the time, I just leave the antennas connected and sticking out from the top of my flight bag.I'd also love it if there was a little divot so you could get the tip of your finger in to pop out the microSD card, but this isn't something I normally ever have to do anyway so I don't care that much. But just an idea for a v.2 of this case, if one ever happens. The one time I did need to remove my SD card, I needed to take the whole case apart to get to it. (This doesn't take very long, but shouldn't be necessary.)

I needed a new replacement case for my old stratux from 2018. This was the answer with it's own fan and heat sinks. Much better quality than my old one as it's stronger plastic and it's held in with screws vs snap in like my old one.

I replaced my Summitlink case with this one, mainly so that I could use the AHRS module and Stratux suction cup mount. With the mount, the internal GPYes GPS antenna now faces the "right" way. The SummitLink case had a screw mount on the back, and so unless you got creative with the arms, the GPS antenna faced inside. This was important to me because my iPad does not have a GPS unit of its oown.Size-wise they're comparable, with the Stratux case being 1/4" slimmer. Routing the antenna leads wasn't too bad; it was no more difficult than the SummitLink. The only thing I miss are the long slots on the bottom. I'd thread a velcro strap through them and use it to hold my battery. I also wish the port cutouts were smaller; there's a large gap between the case and the port and it looks unfinished.For those building a new setup, the case comes with heatsinks so you don't need to buy those separately. Overall good case!

Works great, easy to build up, seems durable and we'll designed. I power mine with ship's power using a USB car adapter in the power port and carry a backup battery just in case. There isn't really a good way to strap the battery to the case if you use the suction mount. I just use a longer USB cable (the one for ship's power) and connect it to the portable battery. It works for me.
