Murdle: Volume 1 (Murdle, 1)

Fun! This kept showing up in my “you might be interested in…” section. When my sister had a copy I could take a real look at it. Looked fun, threw it in my cart. I’m now half done with volume 1. I have also already ordered the second volume for me, as well as put another 1st volume in my cart as a gift for a friend.Some are easy, some are harder. I’ve not gotten them all correct, but I have really enjoyed each puzzle.Additionally, the colorful suspects, creative weapons and interesting places of each murder are…. Um… (Is “fun” an appropriate term?)

The Murdle books are genius and were a great summer vacation gift to my nephew. He dedicated an hour a night to working on solving his first Murdle Mystery each night before bed at our cabin in Maine. His aunt also got involved in following the narrative story. I will purchase more of the Murdle books for this season's Christmas and the Brain Game Logic books in the Water Park and Circus. I love to see Colin not relying on his electronic devices to play video games mindlessly but putting pencils to paper, working through problems, and strengthening his skill set.

I got this book as a present and now I'm hooked. Have ordered the rest. The light running story of Detective Logico, the hysterical descriptions and the sheer logic make this combination of clue, sudoku, and 5 minute mysteries a must have.

I used to do a daily Murdle online, but I love how the mini puzzles in this book build on each other! It adds an extra layer of fun and challenge as you go—definitely more engaging than solving one-off puzzles.If you are an adult who loves to do mini logic puzzles like connections, you'll like this book!

Fun book for logic puzzle solvers, but you do need to juggle pages as you solve each puzzle. I ended up tearing out the sheets to solve the puzzles because the book is thick. I'd prefer the author use key words and last names instead of symbols on the puzzle grid.

I bought this to go on the plane with me and it did not disappoint. I worked on the puzzles the entire flight.

My husband and I love doing logic puzzles - we're nerdy in that sometimes we race online doing Puzzle Baron's logic puzzles, as you can select the size and difficulty. We came across Murdle online and decided to each get a book so we could continue our nerdy competition. They weave a story throughout which might appeal to some, but it wasn't that engaging to me, nor challenging. I agree with another reviewer that the "one witness is a liar" adds an interesting twist, but after buying the book 1.5 years ago, neither of us could get ourselves to continue doing these puzzles after the first month; I wasn't even interested reading any backstory, I just went straight into the puzzle, but even the "hard" ones weren't very satisfying to complete. Using picture icons as the headings for each column and row was also tedious and not my preference. When we used to do Murdle online, the icons worked because my phone has limited space, AND they were in color so it was easier to distinguish. But the book is printed in black & white so the icons had even less appeal. I often ended up writing in the names myself. I did maybe 15 puzzles (?), way more than hubby, but I erased them all so I can donate this book. On the plus side, despite being on newsprint-like paper, erasing was easy and didn't remove the print. While this book didn't work well for us, perhaps younger kids (e.g. age 10?) might enjoy it.
