Great for custom furniture
This is exactly what I needed. I used this for a "shadow box" coffee table. I wish there were detailed drawings available. That would have made my design process simpler. But after a lot of measuring and some prototyping mock-up, everything worked perfectly.

Work as they should.
I used these in a camp kitchen I built and the work well.

Works great for lift away coffee table
I ordered this since I prefer dual purpose items in new house, and wanted lift away coffee table. I got one made, for around the same price paying someone and materials, for real wood, versus buying and most of the materials being particle board or something, and usually a flimpsy top. Used butcher block counter top cut to size, used other half for kitchen island build, protected with polyurethane, still use coasters, as the table top. These are sturdy, took some time getting proper placement, and happy with the results. They can hold up a piece of thick butcher block without issues. Now, I can do work and eat in front of T.V. for when I'm feeling too lazy to go and sit at regular table. I would order again if needed for project.

Don't be afraid of installation. I'm a 64 year old female - if I can do it, you can too.
I bought this homemade chest for a song and felt it was perfect for a lift-top. As others mentioned, no screws or instructions, but brainstormed with a few friends and installed fairly easily without any help.Do not cut tie straps until you’re ready to install the lid. Do not remove current trunk hinges so you can open and close lid for accurate measurements.I installed sides first with just 3 screws (on each side), making sure top bracket was level with trunk top. Then using a t-square (with lid open), drew a line from the center hole of the top mount to the outside of trunk. I measured repeatedly for center hole for lid mount. And even measured the distance between the two center holes on each side. Be sure to account for overhang, mine is 1/4 inch. Then I marked inside of lid top for center hole and measured again.I removed old hinges and laid the lid bottom-up on the floor and drilled pilot just for the center hole, To easily find hole later, I marked with pink duct tape.Thenn I cut the tie straps, raised the lift-top hinges and placed lid on top of the hinges. I had to lie under lid to attach lid to just the center hole on each side. This was the only hard thing about this process.Carefully Lowered lid to make sure it was seated correctly. Then raised the lid and marked all lid holes with a white sharpie.I totally removed the lid (took screws out of center holes), flipped it over and drilled pilot holes for everything. Then I put it back on the hinges and screwed in everything. It lined up perfectly. I secured each side and all holes on top. I bought a multipack of carpentry screws for the various sizes for about $6.You have to use both hands to raise and lower racking is minimal, but very stable once it’s up.For less than $200, I have a beautiful and functional lift-top coffee table (toy box) for the grandbabies.Hope this helps. If I can do it, you can too.

Great product but a little difficult to install
This is exactly what I need to build a lift top coffee table. The gas hydraulic mechanism is sturdy but smooth. I also wanted two separate devices so I didn't have to alter my build plans to accommodate the style where the hinges are connected by a cross bar. It stays open when it's open and stays closed when it's closed. The price is right for a quality product. It does not come with installation instructions, but it is easy enough to figure out. I used 1.5 inch #8 size screws (for those who don't know, #8 refers to the diameter of the screw, that's what size the holes in the hinge are. The only issue is that the mechanism is in the way and blocks the screw holes. I ended up not using each hole (seemed pretty sturdy even minus a couple screws) since I wasn't able to get in there with the drill. My husband suggested loosening the nut that holds the hydraulic mechanism in place to unblock the holes. I did not want to mess with it but it's an option.

Not smooth
This holds well but doesn't open or close smoothly, more like a strong pull. Don't expect this to be as nice as on pre assembled furnitures of higher value. They are also a bit short but they serve their purpose.

Perfect hinges for a custom project!
Was looking for exactly this product for my custom fire table I'm building out of an old concrete sink. Wanted an easy way to lift the top and access a propane tank without disturbing the fire rocks in the tray.I had one order issue (orderedthe gas ones but got the spring ones instead). Seller fixed the issue right away with an exchange and I got the gas ones two days later. These hinges are strong with the gas shocks! My tabletop is made out of pressure treated wood and it is pretty heavy. These things lift it up without much help from me. As some others have mentioned, there is some "racking" picking it up since it doesnt have braces. I'll probably make some to even out the lift. Otherwise, these are awesome and exactly what the doctor (I'm not a doctor though ;) ) ordered!

Very strong tabletop support and good quality
Purchased these to make a small ottoman into a short side table desk for an RV. These arms worked very well for what we needed. These don't lift the table too high so make sure to measure before you purchase to know what you are getting. We went with the springs over hydrologic lifts so they'd be less likely to have mechanical or twisting issues. Good price for what you get. When installing you need to have basic tool/handy skills and tools. It took some measuring to build the base exact and drill holes into the side supports. The springs do snap into place when opened so if your base isn't too heavy you have to hold the base when opening. I haven't weighed how much the tabletop holds but it's very sturdy.
