A must for a narrow galley kitchen
Great little gadget, we are regular narrowboat users, and i didnt want to bring too many kitchen items to cook in a tiny kitchen where space is very limited, This chopper is the perfect alternative to my blender and food mixer, only made a salsa so far, but it was so easy, chopped the veg to perfection, and best of all, after removing the blade i used the bowl and lid to store the salsa in the fridge. This will be used soooo much, Easy and quick to use, no tears with onions, less washing up, and no need for power! what more could i ask on a boat. Looking forward to checking out other Brieftons gadgets

Agreeably surprised at how well this works
I didn't have high hopes for this but was agreeably surprised. For fine chopping, it did an excellent job with all the veg I have tried so far - carrot, onion, courgette, mushrooms, celery & bell pepper. I've also successfully chopped cooked ham & made a rough puree from tinned kidney beans. Rough chopping is a little less efficient. Pieces aren't simple bigger they much less evenly sized. This isn't always a problem of course. Finally, it made a very good job (with the blades not the mixer attachment) of mixing a biscuit dough - both rubbing in stage and adding liquid. The pull cord is mostly very easy. It needed a little persuasion to get started with the carrots but nothing that caused a problem.I ditched my electric food processor some time ago in favour of a powerful hand blender as the processor was too big to stay out in my small kitchen, too much trouble to set up and way too much trouble to clean. Compared to that the Brieftons chopper is a joy. Compact and easy to set up and clean after use. It is also much more effective than the (very) small processor bowl that came with my hand blender - which chops food into some big chunks and some mush. This won't do everything a powerful food processor can but for what I wanted it is ideal. All in all, I am delighted that I took a chance with this product and would recommend it for the uses I've described.

Great buy.
Great little gadget, well worth buying if only to chop onions in!! But it is so useful I would not be without it. If you have young children who will not chew, or dislike veg, this will chop so small you can easily hide it in sauces etc .Be sensible how you use it and do not expect it to cope with huge pieces like a whole carrot etc. Chop all veg roughly and do not add too much at a time. Experimenting is fun, and if the cord does not pull easily you know it's too full or pieces are too big. Blade easy to get in and out safely and rinses clean under the tap. Main compartment hand or dishwasher safe, lid wipe clean only, so easy care.

Lifesaving product, wish I knew about it 20 years ago
Amazing onion chopper,so quick to chop 2 large Spanish onions. Also used it to dice peppers. Whilst the base and chopping bit go in the dishwasher, the lid with the pulley string has to be hand washed. I’m just sorry I didn’t discover this 20 years ago. I have tried so many onion choppers over the years and this is the only one I would recommend.

Arthritic hands approve!
My elderly mother loves to cook for others. With her arthritis, chopping vegetables was making what was an enjoyable, rewarding experience for her, more of a painful chore.I looked at many vegetable choppers, including those that you have to press down. She doesn't have the strength to use that sort, especially when chopping some of the harder vegetables. This gem of a gadget has a 'puller handle' (for lack of a better term) which activates the blades to turn and chop the items inside. The more times you pull, the more finely the vegetables chop.Mum can manage this easily, and without pain.It easily deals with any vegetable she chooses even carrots. This is the second time I have purchased this item, she uses it so frequently that the blades blunted on the first. It lasted 3 years of being used weekly which I thought was good value. The unit itself was still in great condition, so very durable. My mum gives it her seal of approval, and I would recommend it.

Wife loves it
I asked the wife, this is what she said about it:As we are vegan we do a lot of chopping every day so this gadget is a must have. It's so useful we wouldn't want to be without it. It now only takes half the time to chop up large quantities of food. Everything we've put through it works very well, except dried dates as they get stuck in the blades so avoid doing that.As a side note, cleaning the inside of the lid can be tricky as the instructions say not to immerse it in water. Other than that the rest of it is easy enough to clean. It's too early to say how long this will last with the daily use we are putting it through, hopefully a good long while. If it does eventually break we would be inclined to buy another one as the time it saves is invaluable.
