Good strong chain

Good sturdy chain and much thicker guage than I was expecting. I was going to use it to fit a sluece type grid around a galvanised pole, to allow it to open and close, but the links were too heavy to make a flexible loop. That is not a critisism of the product, but an indication of its stength and guage. I had to get a lighter chain for that job, but used the length that I bought here as a security chain around a field gate, held together with a padlock.

First impression:👀 The length of the chain was 5.1m and each link is just over 2” or 54mm and 22mm wide. The ID of the chain is about 10mm. Otherwise, it is a standard length and style of chain with flat links. The gauge of the link is just under 6mm. I inspected the chain welding along its length and it is a little rough in places compared to other chain that I have, but mostly adequate. The occasional link has an incomplete weld where not all of the surface of the link has fused with the other, as you might be able to see in one of the photographs. Deburring the welding bead is also incomplete with some weld splatter.What I liked:✔️ Good bright zinc finish. Hopefully this will sustain some corrosion resistance.✔️ Long link length – I need to secure lengths of chain with a bolt and washer so a long length is good, and this also reduces the number of welds in the chain per unit length.✔️ With an ID of 10mm, the chain can easily accommodate attachment to other chain fittings such as shackles and carabiners that tend to max out at about 9mm. I will be using 8mm fittings and so I am happy that the chain will be suitable for my application.Anything I didn’t like so much:❌ Rough and incomplete welding on a few links. With this in mind I would be cautious of the maximum rated load of the chain.❌ The packaging that the chain arrived in was not the best and there was a big hole in the side. Although everything arrived ok, the carboard box was inadequate to contain the chain and should have been double walled. This is because the chain is substantial and weighs 2.6Kg or 5 ¾ lbs.Conclusion:✅ For my application I am going to cut the chain into smaller sections to secure with ground anchors and will not be using it in a load bearing situation. Time will tell if the plating will keep any rust at bay as the chain will be attached to the ground. The chain is certainly good value for a 5m length at just under £20 when I bought it.Thanks for taking the time to read my review, I hope you found it helpful.

This chain is very study a very good buy

Great chain

Good heavy quality chain. I bought this to secure items in my shed. I tried to cut some links off with a hacksaw but gave up after 15 minutes so should deter any likely thieves. Quick delivery, highly recommended.

Good quality for price, decent size rings, shiny finish , well packaged, using with padlocks round my horses gateposts both sides, and the choices of lengths is perfect as it is a right faf to try to get this done in a shop.

I originally gave this item a 2* rating because it hadn’t arrived. It was delayed because of CV19 staffing problems. It’s now arrived and I’m very pleased with the product. It’s exceeded my expectations and I want to apologise to the retailer for my earlier poor review.
