This is a great remote if you need one and don’t mind that it doesn’t have volume control. I find I have to replace my controllers because I drop them a lot. This controller has taken a major beating. So much so that I bought a second one just to have in case the other one actually dies.

Ordered for my kids, who’ve already broken 2 replacement Apple remotes. These SAVED us. Durable, takes AA batteries, easy to use and less likely to lose it because it’s bigger than typical Apple TV remote. You’ll need to use your phone to clear out all the background apps because this remote will not allow that action for some reason. But other than that, Golden!

The demise of my apple remote was a coffee spill, so I was on the hunt for a replacement & had the apple remote in my cart. About to press purchase I started thinking; the voice command button never worked (I had 2) so why am I spending the extra money when I could get a basic remote?So I searched basic apple universal remotes and this one came up.Yes, it’s basic but it works really well, I can change channels with ease, edit menu items & it matches my tv remote (I have to keep that one for volume and powering on the tv).As long as you need a basic apple remote go for it!

It’s been a couple of months and the home button has already stopped working. I didn’t expect much due to the quality, but it worked well initially. I would say save yourself the trouble and find a used authentic Apple Remote. If you have to replace this remote every couple of months you will have spent the equivalent of 2-3 genuine Apple remotes.

So far it works great! Way better than the track pad remote that comes with the apple TV.I will say if you are browsing movies it's quicker to use the track pad remote, but when you are actually watching a show and simply scrubbing forward thru commercials this remote is WAY better. With the track pad remote I always ended up skipping way ahead into the episode, or I would accidentally touch the remote and it would shoot to the end of the episode or something like that.This remote also turns my tv on and off, my track pad remote only turns off the apple tv device, then turn my tv on and off manually.

The product is very light, cheap and plastic feeling and you have to supply your own AAA batteries. I was not expecting it to be the quality of an original Apple TV remote, but perhaps something in between for the price. That aside, This remote will not work if you have your Apple TV hidden (As most people do) Behind your TV or in a cabinet, etc. It says very clearly in tiny red writing on the instructions that it will only work with an infrared signal ie it has to “see” the Apple TV to make the remote work. Without direct sight, It becomes a glorified TV remote that can turn the power of your TV off and on and change the volume, Therefore, fairly useless. It will not work with Bluetooth or wireless signal. Very frustrating to learn this after the fact.

The apple controller works great, needs AAA batters. Easy to set up and bigger than the original controller which is nice. Great for the money.

I would buy thing over apple any day, just Putin batteries and use. Simple as that.
