This is a fun review for me to write because I dove off the deep end learning about hypochlorous acid (HOCl) a while back and use it around the house all the time.Let's start with what HOCl is:HOCl is the active (non-toxic) ingredient of chlorine (toxic) when chlorine is dissolved in water. When chlorine gas (Cl2) is added to water, it reacts to form hypochlorous acid (HOCl) and hydrochloric acid (HCl). HOCl is the primary disinfectant responsible for the antimicrobial properties of chlorine solutions. HOCl and OCl- exist in equilibrium, with the relative concentrations depending on the pH of the solution. At lower pH (more acidic), a higher proportion of HOCl is present. While HOCl is the active disinfecting agent, it's not stable in its pure form and therefore has a limited shelf life.A brief history, and its other uses:* HOCl was used as a disinfectant during World War I. Before the widespread availability of antibiotics, HOCl was used to irrigate and disinfect wounds, significantly reducing infection rates and saving countless lives.* The human body naturally produces HOCl as part of its immune response. White blood cells, specifically neutrophils, generate HOCl to fight off invading pathogens like bacteria and viruses.* One of the main sanitizing (and again non-toxic) sprays during the pandemic was HOCl.* Salt water pools are essentially HOCl generators and use salt to make HOCl directly instead of adding chlorine.You can make your own HOCl at home for very cheap once you have an electrolyzer ($5 to $150 depending on the quality you are looking for). Using 2g of non-iodized table salt, 1L of water, a splash of vinegar for extra acidity, and 8-30+ minutes of electrolysis depending on the concentration you are looking for you can make as much HOCl as you want. Note that it is not stabilized and might contain some leftover chlorine, but it does the job well. I use it every day to clean and sanitize around the house. It is food safe, and again, non-toxic! It only lasts about two weeks before it turns back into salt water.Finally, about this product. You can use chlorine test strips to test the strength of HOCl. Unfortunately, as seen in the picture above, the test strip didn't react at all. From what I understand, that means this solution has 10 or less PPM of HOCl. While higher concentrations do dry out the skin, I would expect it to at least register on a test strip. In the end, this spray does clean the eyelids, but I'm not sure of the ingredients. Also, they have to use a stabilized form of HOCl because it doesn't have a long shelf life. Even still, this bottle says to use within 3 months. Should you try it out? Sure! Would it be more economical to make your own and essentially have free household sanitizer for life? Definitely!Look up the EcoOne brand of HOCl generators!

QIQ Eyelid & Eyelash Cleanser - High Purity Hypochlorous Acid Spray was a relief after my husband's eye surgery in his healing process. He used it day #1 with the photo on the left, while his sutures and stitches were fresh and on the right, when the photo was taken 30 days later. The fact that the formula was natural, non-toxic and used a high purity hypochlorous acid was key in using it. We asked his doctor about usage and said it would be perfectly fine, as many physicians were "in the know" of this trending ingredient.

This Eyelid & Eyelash Cleanser is fairly easy to use and not irrating. I apply this cleanser using a cotton pad. It leaves my eyelid and eyelashes very comfortable.

My QIQ Eyelid & Eyelash Cleanser arrived in a zipped plastic bag that was sealed, assuring me of a new and unopened product. The box contained inside shows instructions for use, information about the product, and a list of ingredients. The product is made in the U.S.A. The bottle shows an expiration date of 11/2025 and repeats the information shown on the box.I did as instructed, saturating a small cotton ball with the cleanser and then wiping it across my lids and lashes starting from the inside. I experienced no irritation or burning of any kind. No rinsing is necessary, which is something I appreciate. I was able to smell the natural scent of hypochlorous acid, which I expected due to the product's not containing any added fragrance. The scent faded quickly. Prior to cleansing my eyelids, I looked at them carefully and did see the usual debris that results from blepharitis. A brief wipe with QIQ Eyelid & Eyelash Cleanser removed all such debris, leaving my lids clean and my eyes free of irritation resulting from the debris. It is recommended that this treatment be repeated 2 to 3 times per day to keep lids free of debris, and I plan to do that. The bottle is a decent size and should last a while even with that schedule. Also, the manufacturer recommends that the product be used within 3 months of opening.I am happy to recommend QIQ Eyelid & Eyelash Cleanser to anyone looking to cleanse their eyelids. It provides moisture to the area while cleaning debris off of the eyelids and eyelashes, and it also appears to be nonirritating to sensitive skin. No rinsing is necessary, and that is a plus. Hypochlorous acid is safe and effective, and the ingredients contained in this formula are few. They consist only of what you do want without a trace of what you do not want. QIQ Eyelid & Eyelash Cleanser is quick and easy to use, and there appears to me to be no downside.

I was worried ordering online something that washes my eyes, but it works surprisingly well. It is $20, pretty pricey, but I think worth it, not irritating, and equivalent if not better than saline eye drops.

If you haven’t heard of hypochlorous solutions, you’re in for a treat if you buy this. It’s so gentle and so soothing—I look forward to using it morning and night, before and after contact use. If you have sensitive eyes, I think you’ll love it. To me, it’s more soothing than saline-based eyelid wipes, and weirdly, I like how it smells. This is made in the USA, and the POA (period after opening) denotes a 3-month period after opening.
