I was at a local farmers market in town and a lady selling kale chips was chewing on something that seemed like tobacco so I inquired what it was. She said it was Ashwgandha roots cut and sifted. She offered me a taste and she said to hold in in your cheek and keep chewing it unit the herb had been released and then spit out or swallow. When I tried it it tasted kind of strong but I stuck with it and chewed away. After 20 minutes I spit it out and went back to her and asked her what the herb is good for. The taste it not so wonderful but it those what it should do

I wish it was ground up, But I have used it in a couple of ways now, in tea, and coffee I also used in like some would use tobacco, Only time will give me more information

I take this as a balancing herb for my thyroid.It also is great for restoring your immune system after a long illness. A great herb!These are chopped bits of a hard root. I use 2 tablespoons per quart of water. put boiling water over the herb and steep at a very low temp for 10 minutes. Let sit for an hour before drinking.This is called a decoction. Use about 1/4 cup of this tea per day, or more as desired.One of the names for this herb is "smell of a horse" and it does indeed smell strong. At first I had a hard time drinking it, but after a couple of days I got used to it and it no longer bothers me at all.
