Blade stays sharp
I’m about ready to buy another box of 12 after 2 years, 3 months. This means on average each blade lasted 2 months and approximately one week. I do have a beard and don’t shave my full face, but still shave enough to say these blades last a lot longer than many I have used off of store shelves which lasted on average of only a couple weeks per blade and some less.

Best value, better than Amazon basics
I tried the amazon basics blades, hoping they were using the same blades as Gillette, but they are not. My wife was fine with them, they were just as good if not better than the woman razors (and men's she had tried the promos for dollar shave club, harrys etc...)My brother told me about Gillette Fusion Proglide like 15 years ago after I went to the store and bought the cheapest pack of razors I could find and they physically hurt to shave with, and continued to hurt for 2-3 hours after shaving. I know them well, and these gillete5 are the same, just without the extra "precision" blade which i used, but I can live without. I get 3-4 months out of one blade, I shave every 2-4 days. Most alternative blades i have tried, I put into the category of 1 month old, 2 months old or 3 months old. None are as smooth as these right out of the box, they all feel like the Gillette after a month or more of use. I don't use a mirror or having cream, to shave, I shave in the shower. If you shave last, the hair is much easier to shave, making the blades last longer. Once a blade is 3 months old, if I shower too fast, shaving can be hard. Also, do NOT keep these blades in the shower. The lube strip will be ruined by the time you go to use them. It also makes it harder for you to grab a new blade, so you're forced to make your existing blade last longer lol. But my point is that I'm pretty qualified to compare these blades since I don't use any products, and I use my blades until they are beyond 'done'.I buy these when they are under $20 for a 12 pack and load up for a year or two. I just bought these using subscribe and save for 19.78, that is $1.65 per blade. Amazon basics, on subscribe and save are $16, so 1.33 per razer. That's 20% cheaper or 25% more expensive depending on how you look at it. For me, I can easily say that these Gillette last twice as long. And you get the benefit of that first month of amazing smooth/fast shaves.

The perfect blend of closeness, smoothness, safety, longevity and economics.
Gillette's Fusion razor line is a premium offering in the cartridge razor market. I'm a daily shaver, and I've used most cartridge and safety razor brands seeking that perfect balance of closeness, smoothness (non-irritation), safety, longevity and economics. I like to shave in the morning after showering and experience a BBS shave throughout the day. This is consistently possible with Gillette's Fusion razor, but before they made the Gillette5 offering, it was an expensive choice. In my experience, Gillette5 keeps the closeness, smoothness, safety, and longevity of Fusion5, ProGlide, and ProShield, while making a serious improvement in affordability. The Gillette5 offering may be Gillette's attempt to arrest its declining market share, as Harry's and Dollar Shave Club have captured significant share in recent years.Gillette5 offers the same great shave as Fusion5, ProGlide, and ProShield and the only sacrifice you'll make is the edging trimmer on the back of the cartridge. For an average savings of 53% per cartridge (a $1.63 savings over a ProGlide cartridge as of this writing), that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make. The trimmer blade never added much value to my shave anyway, and if I need to trim my sideburns or reach the whiskers under my nose, I can always switch to a DE razor for that one task. Truth is, though, the Gillette5 performs those tasks adequately without the trimmer blade. At the current price per cartridge ($1.87/cart), you can use one of these cartridges 10 times for a sub-20 cent per shave cost. I think you can go further than 10 shaves without sacrificing the delicate balance mentioned above.Further, this is the lowest five-blade cartridge price I have yet seen from a major manufacturer (Gillette, Schick, Harry's, DSC, even Dorco). They've even undercut their Mach3 offering by $0.85 per cartridge. You can find it cheaper if you want to go with the Personna M5, but you'll sacrifice one or more of the other goals of a competent shave. 20 shaves with a Gillette5 cart will have you at about 9 cents per shave. This is the DE shave cost range for some pricier blades, such as Feather, Gillette Silver Blue, or Gillette 7 O'clock Super Platinum.Do yourself a favor and take advantage of living in a capitalist country, where as a result of creative destruction, the consumer is the winner. Experience the 5 pillars of a great shave. Purchase the Gillette5 cartridges and use them in your favorite Fusion handle. They fit all the different iterations except the luxury Gillette Labs heated razor, and if you want what that has to offer, let me introduce you to the hot water faucet at your bathroom sink. Cheers!
