Spellcrafting: Strengthen the Power of Your Craft by Creating and Casting Your Own Unique Spells

A wonderful introduction! Good reminder of foundations too.
Love this author. I especially love that the author is wicca but doesn’t try to push that on you and is very clear that spellcraft/ witchcraft is personal and doesn’t have to be connected to a religion. I also like that they don’t sell the “and motte it be” and the be all end all of closing phrases. I like to make my own and I feel like the author truly did an excellent job of offering guidance and tips without disrespecting the fact that it’s YOUR craft! It was nice and easy to read. I already have a fair amount of experience with the craft, but I am also self taught and cobble together elements that I like from all over and my own intuition. This was my first official “how to book” and it was nice to cross reference some of the things I had discovered on my own with another source. I was a little nervous because it is so personal, and I’m very sensitive to “tone” in writing but I feel like the author was gentle but firm, and gave me some new things to consider while also affirming somethings I had already found to be true. So it was a nice experience!

hard bound and a good overall explanation.
This book explains not how to cast a prewritten spell but it explains what the title says it's about, How to craft your own spells. Specifically, how to figure out what works for you and how detailed or simple do you want to make it, and a plethora of sources from which to help focus your spellwork.I got this first through Audible and realized once I was into it that I would need the hard copy as it's a resource that will need to be referenced over and over again.I recommend both the audible version and the hardbound edition (so that your first time through you can hear someone read it to you and back it up if you need to hear it again).I did appreciate that I was able to purchase two copies of the hardbound edition where I got a discount on the 2nd book.

Loved this title.
This book was so informative. It didn't just tell you the information, it gave you explanations and examples. I also like that she laid out charts and tables. It was really just one of those books that you should have in you magical collection.

Great for beginners!
I'm glad I listened to my intuition and bought this book. I have a lot of various books on witchcraft and spells, but none ever seemed to serve the purpose I needed and I always felt like something was missing. This book mostly filled in the emptiness those others left me feeling. The author does a good job explaining how to create and cast effective spells from start to finish and offers practical examples for how to do it all. From explaining how to word the spells and the purpose of various correspondences to giving good examples of how to raise power and then release it, everything is presented in an easy to understand way that even a fresh-out-of-the-box beginner can use.I can't help it, but I did feel a bit turned off by the author's suggestion of using Abrahamic elements in spellwork and also a heavy insistence on Wiccan dogma. The author doesn't say that you HAVE to follow the Wiccan rule of "3-fold Return", but brings it up over and over and over again. I appreciate that the book isn't aimed directly at Wiccans like a lot of others are, and so even if you're not Wiccan you can benefit from this information, but it's gotten to the point that finding pagan material, especially involving witchcraft, without the heavy influence of Wicca is irritatingly difficult. The Wiccan aura of it coupled with mentions of the Abrahamic god, angels, and other such things, just made me feel uncomfortable. Thankfully, unlike other books in which these things are included, removing those elements and replacing them with pagan gods or spirits is easy.I'll be referencing this book a lot, I think, and I'm really glad I spent the money on it. I think it's going to be worth it!

Loveeee this book
I love this book nothing that i don’t dislike about it. it tells you how to do spells and what spells are about how to do them, and I accidentally ripped out the page so I had to get a new one but this book let me tell you it’s the most wonderful book I’ve ever gotten, recommended for beginners and non beginners♥️

Want to learn how to craft spells that actually work? This book has it all!
Arin Murphy-Hiscock has written an amazing book. Witches, magicians, and those interested in the paranormal need to buy this book. It covers an enormous amount of ground, covering everything from ethics, to actual practice in crafting and casting spells. There is no fluff, and the book is clear, concise, and a joy to work with. She definitely knows her craft. I had one of the first editions, and for fifteen years ago, it was "tops." This newer, second edition is a quantum leap forward, and is a "must have" addition to anyone's library of magic and/or Witchcraft. If Amazon would let me, I'd giver her, and her books, 10 Stars... I wholeheartedly recommend this book, without reservation...

This book is perfect in every way!
This book is amazing in every way! I must say, Ive never enjoyed a “witchy“ book more than this one! It is so practical, well written and highly detailed. It is very clear that she knows her stuff! I especially appreciate the flexibility this book offers in terms of practicing style, as I am not one to follow “the norm” or any particular religion, I always put my own creative spin on everything and this book tells you exactly how to do that. It pushes no particular form of the craft, which is super refreshing. I had the digital version, but really wanted a hard copy for my library and Im so glad I did! Would recommend to anyone no questions asked!
