Easily the best solution for black spot Wifi
Highly recommended and I very rarely write a review so I hope this is useful to all....Firstly the issue..... I had a BT router with 4 mesh discs that was providing 50-70mbs download and 25-35mbs upload - the house is big, it has very thick walls both internal and external - I have a lot of smart things connected - Sky Q with 3 mini boxes, 2 x hue controllers with over 90 lights/sensors/controllers attached (some inside some outside) - 6 smart TV's - a home Network Access System with 16TB RAID for backup plus the usual collection of phones, iPads and computers/laptops.The BT system worked sort of ..... the mesh system was ok but the blackspot still happened - devices did struggle to move from one place to another and the speeds were so slow - I took speed ratings in every room and the worst rooms were getting 2-3MB per second download and less than 1MB upload..... then there was the reliability of the system - when one mesh disc stopped working (the BT stuff is fairly cheap and cheerful but only cost £10 per disc) then it gradually took down the rest of the system - restarting the hub worked but boy oh boy did that take some time... and the hub was not really up to the job. What forced the change - installation into the village of fibre - by Quicklime and I signed up to 1000MBS upload and download so it was time to make the network work properly! The router they installed was ok - but I wanted a solution that would be good for the next 5 years or so.... I did my homework and ordered the the TP link Deco 65 triple pack - try band and wifi 7 - so hopefully enabling me to not worry about the network until 2030!I configured my Quickline ZYXEL router to have no wifi networks - one ethernet cable in and one out to the DECO (If i removed the ZYXEL then my internet provider Quicklime would not offer remote support).... I configured my DECO with the same wifi name and password as my old BT one and plugged in...... WOW - firstly all the wifi devices connected and worked (that were in range) without any new setup.... I then added the second and third DECO BE65 products... easy.... then I placed them in the house and again WOW!My speeds are incredibly - no black spots for wifi and such an easy process ..... so much so that I've already added an outdoor DECO X50 - it's not wifi 7 but it then allows the garden and patio to enjoy 100MBS connection.I cannot recommend this system and product enough - from unboxing to using took less than 30 minutes and then add another 15 mins per additional box.... I have been playing with the various settings and the network optimisation tool is great - if you change the positioning of any unit then run this and it will reconfigure for the best / optimum network.A fantastic product and well worth the money!

Simple and effective Extender.
Great to extend wi-fi to prefab concrete garage that is heavily insulated! Boosters didn't work, so took a chance on this and it paid off. We have converted our garage into 2 rooms. Front room is just an insulated store room. The back room is an insulated kids den! Needed wi-fi for the xbox and these units work a treat. 1 is connected to the router, 2nd is in the Kitchen extension and the 3rd is in the garage store room.PLEASE NOTE: The installation instructions aren't clear. It doesn't state to have one connected to the router. So initially set up the first one in the kitchen. As it didn't work I started again and connected it to the router. I had to research how to wipe clean the first one. So a bit of unnecessary messing, due to lack of clear instructions. Once initially installing the first one to the router, set-up is realitivly simple. Name your new network and make sure your new devices are connected to the NEW network.

Well it's magic
Mesh networking, I was late to the party having struggled with multiple routers, bandwidth controls, multiple WiFi networks was a revelation. I'm more than capable with networking, flashing custom router roms, setting up parential controls, QoS, VLANs..... but sometimes you just want a network that works and not have to touch it, I've better things to be spending my time on.Enter TP-Link Deco, it just works. The setup process is via smartphone app, it detects its way to the internet all by itself and you are pretty much done. Parental controls are pretty good, allowing on/off (bedtimes) per person and some lightweight website filtering. Essentially you can name all your devices that connect to the network and assign each of them an 'owner', these 'owners' are then parentally controlled, i.e. all devices for that owner will have the same behaviours.QoS is very simple, but enough. This is 'per device'. Essentially you set the devices you want to have 'high-priority', this might be the living room TV, or (as in my case) my work PCs.If you are a technical user wanting control of every aspect of your WiFi, this kit is not for you. You cannot set channels, channel bandwidths, transmit power or barely any 'advanced' settings. It's not perfect, here's a few flaws:1) Devices are registered and assigned by MAC address. Both iOS and Android devices in their latest guises have 'randomised' MACs, which can play havoc. It shouldn't as these MACs are supposed to stay constant per WiFi network, I do however have 1 rogue Android device that picks a new MAC everytime. Your kids may also know how to 'spoof' MAC address to circumvent parental controls. It would be nice if new MACs (aka new devices) were blocked by default on the network.2) There is no dedicated backhaul (this involves a WiFi channel dedicated for node to node conversation). My internet speeds are less than 70Mbps, the lack of a dedicated backhaul makes little or no difference to me as the WiFi speeds far outstrip my internet speed. If your requirements are less internet connectivity, but more local network communication, this might be more important to you.3) Existing DSL Modem/Routers present some difficulty. No real fault of the Deco, but if you have an existing DSL modem/router setup isn't really done without some fiddling. You essentally need to 'dumb down' you existing modem/router a) It's WiFi really shouldn't be on b) It musn't be a DHCP server. Some modem/routers offer a 'bridge mode', which essentially turns them into a modem only - this is ideal, then you input your ISP login into your Deco. You 'can' put the Deco into access point mode, downside here is you loose parental controls and other features that you only get when the deco is in router mode. If your existing router is still acting as a router, everthing will still work, it's just you get a double-hop out of your network - for the non-techical this might be a 5 MILLISECOND delay (not that you would notice). The potentally bigger issue with this double-hop is for gamers, especially if inbound traffic cannot get back, here you can put your Deco in the DMZ of your exisiting router.None of this should put you off the Deco, technically it is brilliant, I've been montoring its WiFi behaviour over some time, and its incredibly sophisticated under the covers, optimising the node configuration for maximum performance and stability. For most people it will just work out of the box,1) One single WiFi network identity throughout your home2) Seamless roaming as mobile devices move around the house3) Simple 'app' based control and monitoringIt's the best investment I've made in WiFi hardware for years.
