If you receive the phone call from this BK03 car kit, it will use this BK03 microphone. 2. If you use your smart phone speaker to receive the phone call, it will use your smart phone microphone. Note: if your smart phone is iPhone, you will use the phone speaker to receive the call if you press the call button from the iPhone. Q: Is there a way to stop this from going into sleep mode?

Mine never goes to sleep until it looses power, then when power comes back it wakes up.

Q: Is the air vent clip permanently attached, or can it be optionally removed so the unit can be stuck to flat part of my dash (with velcro or adhesive)?

No. The clip is separate. Not sure how it attaches cuz I didn’t use it. I used the dbl face tape to attach to my dash.
