Q: Do you used these pads in addition to carbon media pellets or do you use these pads without the pellets?

you do not have to use any extra carbon pellets but i add a small bag to the same section as the filter just because i dont have to change these filters as fast so the extra carbon helps with clarity of water

Q: In what order do you put these filters into your sunsun canister? I’ll be putting these in a 303b model, which only has 3 sections. Thanks

The Order of your filter media is of GREAT IMPORTANCE! First you need to know the direction of water flow through your filter. Some filters are top to bottom, some are bottom to top and some are outside to inside etc. You always want the dirty water to hit your coarse foam first, then medium foam, then fine foam and finally your polishing pads. Then, after the foam pads you put your biological media stones. You want to get as much of the debris out of the water before it hits your biological media so that it does not clog up the pores of the stones. The bacteria needs to be able to get into the fine pores of the stones and the more water flow you have across the stones the more effective the biological bacteria will filter the water and neutralize the nitrates and nitrites. It makes a significant difference which order you put the media! If you put your media in the wrong order you are preventing your nitrogen cycle from functioning at its most effective rate and creating a toxic situation for your fish! Remember Coarse foam to fine foam, then polishing pads, then bio-stones. Rinse your pads at least once a month and replace the polishing pads.

Q: Will this filter kit work on my sunsun hw-402b canister?

I think the filters are a little different size. If there to big you could trim them to size with scissors.

Love this set!

I have two aquariums that I use canister filters on. It was time to switch out some of the filters. I found this set and took a chance on it. It was very economical, fit my canister filters perfectly, and shipping was very quick. I used one of the medium filters, the fine filter, The carbon filter, the phosphorus filter, and one of the polishing filters and one of the canisters. I used the other medium filter, the course filter, a carbon filter, the ammonia filter, and one of the polishing filters in the other canister. It worked out perfectly and both tanks are doing great. On top of it, I have six extra polishing filters to change out as needed. This is a great set for the money.
