Q: how big is the circular eyelet hole? at least 0.50" ?? on the "8 awg, 1/2" (M12) option?

In the description - 8AWG, 1/2". The 1/2" means that a 1/2" bolt will go through the hole.

Q: What size fits a standard threaded battery post? 3/8 or 5/16 I'm thinking?

5/16" is the standard battery post but; I always buy 3/8" eye holes on the hi-press lugs to make it easy to use buss bars or other termination points that commonly use 3/8" - 18 thread as a standard. Just use 5/16" flat washers with the 5/16" studs and it will be the right procedure .

Q: Is it bad to use a 2/0 copper lug instead of 1/0 lug for a 1/0 wire?

I do it on occasion. I fill the void with solder. Tin the wire, then with a torch heat the lug and melt solder into it to its about 1/2 full, then carefully slip wire into lug. Some excess solder may ooze out, but you'll have a great connection
