A must read!

As a first-time mom of twins, I was overwhelmed by feeding—breastfeeding, pumping, bottles—it all felt like too much. Feed the Baby was a lifesaver. Victoria Facelli’s non-judgmental, supportive approach helped me understand my options and feel confident in my choices. The practical tips, science-backed advice, and clear illustrations made learning how to feed my babies far less daunting. I recommend it to every new parent and caregiver I know.

BUY THIS BOOK - IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE.

One month after the traumatic birth of my baby, I found myself in the darkest corner of my postpartum recovery. My husband and I had been struggling with feeding since day one, yet despite the challenges we persisted in searching for all the resources and answers to make it easier. WE TRIED IT ALL. We did tongue tie, consulted with numerous lactation consultants, feeding specialists, the list goes on. Nothing helped the feeding and weight gain improve, well except for ONE cranial sacral therapist, Ayden Love, who I give so much credit to for bringing harmony and balance into my baby's little body.My baby presented all the typical feeding challenges - discoordinated tongue movements, poor latch, clicking, swallowing air, arching back from gas, crying then falling asleep while nursing, etc. Worst of all I was in severe pain from nursing and was later diagnosed with functional nerve pain in my breasts. I should've never continued breastfeeding for that long. Until one day I was graciously introduced to Victoria and her book. Victoria approached my challenge with such an inclusive, holistic lens. She was culturally aware and sensitive to our unique family dynamic. She centered my health and care while addressing the baby's needs and was able to course correct my situation. SHE SAVED MY LIFE.My baby slowly began to improve, gain weight, and I was able to begin my pain free journey of enjoying life as a new mom, finally. Victoria was able to help me wean off nursing and provide critical nourishing formula-feeding guidance for my baby. In a few short weeks, most of my baby's feeding concerns resolved. My baby is six months old now and is on her own growth curve, healthy, alert and achieving all her milestones!I owe so much to Victoria and this book- my new found strength and knowledge in feeding my baby and taking care of my body. This book is full of practical, affirming, gentle and fact-based guidance. I appreciate Victoria's extensive research and data driven information that equipped me with decision making power I needed to feed my baby.I highly recommend you buy this book if you are pregnant, or know anyone who is about to have a baby - the last thing people talk about during prenatal care is how you plan and prepare to feed your baby. Buy this book does it all.

Must read for new and veteran parents

I really wish I had this book when I had my first baby. I had a hard time feeding both of my babies and this book is extremely informative, answering so many of my questions. It helped me feed my baby with confidence and eased my anxieties. It is nonjudgemental, which I appreciate as a mom who has fed her babies with formula and breastmilk. It is also super easy to read- I read it postpartum with a newborn!I’ve sent this to all of my pregnant friends because it is the manual I think all parents need when trying to navigate the often complex task of feeding a baby!

Supportive, inclusive, encouraging, a wealth of knowledge - Buy this book!

I have been struggling for the past two months with breastfeeding and pumping to feed my newborn. I’ve been through a lot: trouble hand expressing colostrum, baby’s shallow latch/strong suck/tongue tie and reflux, pump flanges that we’re too big, elastic nipples, mastitis, and an under supply then over supply. All of this to say that feeding my newborn has been less than intuitive any many times painful. This book was the resource that I have been needing! ‘Feed the Baby’ has helped me to understand lactating breast anatomy, how to breastfeed, how and when to pump to feed, how to get through mastitis, how to build up a supply in my fridge (a small one for emergencies), how to do paced bottle feeding, and so much more. Victoria has literally addressed every question I have had in the last two months. I legit reference this book every day. I feel so much more confident in feeding my baby after reading this book. I’ve given myself permission to let go of the “breast is best” narrative and am proud to feed my baby in any way that works best for both my baby and my mental health.I couldn’t recommend ‘Feed the Baby’ more. I only wish I had it to read while I was pregnant!

Realistic and evidence based approach to all types of feeding

I have been a birth/postpartum/newborn nurse for 10 years. Throughout my clinical practice and as the "go-to" person for friends expecting babies I have never read a more comprehension guide to feeding a baby. It is now THE gift that I give to any person in my life who is entertaining the idea of feeding a baby in their lifetime, including grandparents and extended family members who might be there while someone they love is trying to feed their baby. A lot of books can feel overwhelming, but this is truly a guide meant to do the opposite while validating the truth of every experience. It isn't meant to be read in one sitting, but try not to! It is fun, emotional, evidence-based, anecdotal, supportive, inclusive and I guarantee you that you will be able to connect to the words of Victoria Facelli no matter who you are. I know we shouldn't stray from the requests of baby registries of loved ones, but I'm giving you permission to do so in the instance that you come across a loved one who doesn't have this book yet!
