SHOULD BE IN ADULT BEGINNERS COLLECTION OF BOOKS !
I have given this book five stars , simply because just in my opinion , i feel its hould be in an adults collection , i say collection if they are a *beignner* of beginner books of learning the violin .Although it may be aimed at minors tuition, you still do need to learn all the basic techniques such a correct posture , holding the violin and mastering the very basics , you cannot really skip those and think i dont need to go to the childrens books as im an adult i just feel that you should have this book .Its helpful and takes you though , i used it or am using it with other books so you can skip back to easy things and where one book may miss something out something basic , you can move to this book ..i feel its improtant that you have a number of good books if your a total adult beginner and for exmaple you may be taking up the violin in your 40's ..all in all 5 stars .always try to get something inclduing a CD which this book does ..

A bit easy
This is OK. When I bought it, my 4.5 yr old had on,y started playing the violin for three months or so. However, this is really slow-paced in my opinion. It's easy to learn using it I guess. But not for a quick learning student! I much prefer Vamoosh series. Goblins at the end of this book so much easier than Ode to Joy! Vamoosh also has a free app with some inapp purchases to see how the fingers move on the player.

Have fun and learn.
This book is great,Unlike most tutorial books this one get's to the point and does what it is supposed to (Why We Bought It) but also makes it fun to learn the Violin with good results,Their is plenty of tips here for the beginner and it is not a boring book,It also teaches in a kind way which is to the point but the way it is written it takes a lot of stress off the student but still does the job fantastically,Me and my five year old are having a great time with this book and my child is coming along very steady without getting too confused or bored,It really is a great book and i would recommend this to any youngster who is wishing to learn and play the violin at a steady and confident pace,BRILLIANT :)

Brilliant Book Highly Recommended!
My Daughter had only recently taken up violin classes, and her teacher had recommended I buy this book. Not knowing what to expect I did so, and to my surprised it is a very handy and useful book. The tunes they learn in the book aren't hard and complicated and any beginner would enjoy doing them as much as my daughter did.It was a good investment, and with the added bonus of the CD made learning the tunes easier as it was like having your teacher play along side you without actually being there.

I love it, hope my son will too
This was not for me, but for my son who has just started learning the violin at school. However the motivation for practising at home is coming from me at the moment, and I find this book a lot easier to cope with, as I don't play anything and only have the haziest grasp of reading music. The tunes are catchy and simple (I couldn't get "Rain in the Green Grass" out of my head after we did it). The background tracks are great and made the violin sound good from the start. I highly recommend it.

nice addition for eager learner
Overall it seems a nice book. I would only recommend it as an addition. It does show very briefly about positions and holds. I would rather think it a reminder to what was learned in lesson. The songs are quite catching and fun. CD is essential for this book,( I believe you can get this book without CD too)
