Q: Is the roller stainless steel ?

Tim, I kind of doubt it. It is from China and the roller is magnetic but, without a material analysis I don't know what it's made from. It does, for what it is, work well and has been very helpful in the shop.

Q: is the roller supported by a ball bearing?

It doesn't feel like it has bearings but it rotates freely. The unit has worked well for me when positioning long boards into a chop saw.

Q: I am trying to contact the seller. my item arrived with a missing piece. help!?

Q: can think used for shrink wrap 18ft

No I do not believe it can be used for that purpose, no way to mount a roll of shrink rap on to it.
