I love this thing
This this is perfect set to take when getting some beers and food. You don’t have to worry about it getting wet and it’s easy to roll up and save your game. The XL is the right size for me, I think the smaller one would be too small and I like the way these pieces are shaped. Magnets are strong but not too strong to where it’s tough to pick up and move, but hold everything in place when rolled up. It fits in the cup holders in my truck so I pretty much take this everywhere now.

Perfect
The media could not be loaded. Convenient, portable, and elegant design. Quality is great. I've paused and resumed various games while at work. Magnet strength is... yes.

The perfect gift for chess players
Absolutely love the VentureBoard — it's become my go-to travel companion! The build quality is outstanding: solid, durable, and clearly made to last through all kinds of adventures. Whether I’m tossing it in a backpack or pulling it out for a quick game at a campsite or airport, it holds up beautifully. Everything from the pieces to the board itself feels thoughtfully designed and high-end, which is honestly surprising at this price point. Had a blast taking it with to music festival and just cracking it open on while dancing and people playing a game with me in all the chaos and the pieces not moving. Will probably get the small version to for hikes

Needs travel bag
I own two smaller boards and the XL.The smaller boards come with a nice travel bag. Would be nice if the XL came with or had an option to order a travel bag for it. I keep it in the cardboard box it came in. Other than that the boards are great.

Delivers on the promise.
High quality. Very tectile. Makes everybody around get intrested in chess just to mess around with it. The queen and king designs are a bit unclear and less pleasing but other then that it both looks really cool and delivers on the promise. One note, it's as big as a compact board could be but it's still smaller then what feels natural to play with.

Week Hinges- love the design but it's flawed
Super cool idea- need to improve the hinges. I bought this board for my 13 year old son for Christmas. I figured it would be a great way to pause a game of chess and easy clean up. For this it's perfect. Unfortunately the hinges are too week and have broken. We have probably opened and closed this board maybe a 2 dozen times....seems like a design or manufacturing flaw. Considering the hinges are they key to this products function they need to reconsider the materials being utilized (reinforced with metal?)

Why is the smaller one so much better??
With everyone else the magnets all of them keep coming out and for this price that’s not ok the individual files don’t sit flat like they do on the smaller size pretty disappointed I think I’m going to stick with the smaller one

Great for travel or around rambunctious kids!
This board is great! I did buy the felt stickers for the bottom so the board doesn’t scratch with use. Several other reviews recommended this. The magnetic strength is still solid even with the felt stickers on the bottom of the chess pieces.I really like the size of this larger version, as I think the smaller one would have been too small. I also like that the pieces actually look like chess pieces.I have a bunch of littles running around our house, bumping into tables and such, so it’s really useful to have chess pieces that stay where they are put even when bumped, and can even be rolled up and put away for later if needed! The board is very foundational, and worth the money if you enjoy chess in more mobile and/or chaotic situations.
