Been umming and arring for a while whether to upgrade my micro Scalextric collection by buying a full size set as well.I’ve always had a soft spot for rally cars and their fantastic liveries so this set fitted the bill.So let’s start the review starting with the cars …Two Ford Pumas that look and run sensationally, smooth as butter.Next up is the track …A decent amount of track that allows for eight different layouts which is fantastic as they all take time to master which ups the fun longevity.The controllers …Comes with two controllers which are excellent and also come with a three level speed restrictor which helps if a young child is using it or if you’re struggling to keep the cars on the track.Finally you may have noticed the ‘Hot Laps’ in the title ….This is the genius part of the set that elevates the fun level completely.Download the App onto your mobile phone and then place it on top of the gantry supplied and you now have a superb lap/fastest lap counter.Not only that you have another mode in which you have three rally stages where you have to make the stage times to progress, this is so much fun as go too fast and the car comes off of the track so you have to master that trigger finger if you’re going to win.This can be set to one or two player which is a massive bonus if you’re using it by yourself.So, in summary all I can do is praise this marvellous Salextric set which is so much fun. It retails for £160 which in my opinion is worth it but if you can pick it up for £120 like I did in a sale it really is a no brainer.Love it 👏🏻.

Excellent present , set up for a 6year old who loved it. But the Scalextric track really needs a permanent set up as having to assemble each time takes to long time

Very disappointed. It is incredibly difficult to get the track to clip together. This is solely due to poor manufacturing standards. Nowhere near enough track supports, so the track dips at the joins on the elevated section. Literally No barriers to keep the cars on the track when taking the bends at any speed. Basically, the cars seem OK so far, but the track is appallingly made and cheap.Overall, a bit of a rip off for the price.Finally got track together by changing circuit to not include elevated section.Now, the power base doesnt work. Dead as a Dodo.It's going back.Shame on you Scalextric. 😡

None of the tracks clip together properly no matter how hard I tried. There is a design fault on this new style track so the clips cannot operate. Complained to hornby hobbies but they just said there was no problem with the one they tried. The result is the track separates when cars go round. One car packed up after only two days use due to poor crimp on one wire. I had to modify all track sections with a scalpel to make them fit together. Very frustrating.
